Bruce Springsteen To Release Live CD/DVD From Seeger Sessions Band/Tour
Published April 03, 2007
While Bruce Springsteen fans anxiously await the latest word on sessions said to be taking place in Atlanta for a new album with the E Street Band and producer Brendan O'Brien, it appears that the Boss isn't quite done with his 2006 side trip into more traditional folk music. In fact, it is now official that a live CD and DVD from the critically praised Seeger Sessions tour from last year will see the light of day this summer.
Live In Dublin, recorded over three nights worth of shows last November with the Seeger Sessions Band (who are billed here as just the "Sessions Band") will be released simultaneously by Sony on DVD (including Hi-Def Blu-Ray) as well as on a two-disc audio CD set on June 5.
Fiercely debated in the early going by some fans who saw it as a "vanity project" of sorts, most who eventually saw the live shows supporting Springsteen's 2006 We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions release agree they were revelations, which saw Bruce playing looser and more relaxed than he has been in years. Unfortunately many fans had to rely either on bootleg releases or the great word of mouth reviews that the tour received to hear any of it, as these shows played far fewer cities than your typical Springsteen extravaganza.
In addition to live versions of material from The Seeger Sessions, album, Live In Dublin's 23 songs will also feature versions of several classic Springsteen tracks newly "Seeger-ized" by the "Sessions Band" including such pearls as "Growin Up," "Blinded By The Light" and "Atlantic City." Also included is "American Land," a new song debuted on the tour, previously only available in the expanded edition of The Seeger Sessions.
The DVD was edited by Thom Zimmy, while the audio was mixed by Bob Clearmountain, and mastered by Bob Ludwig--the same team responsible for previous Grammy winning live releases from Springsteen.

I'm sure lisa didn't embarrass herself anymore than I have at more Bruce shows than I count (that probably goes for you as well Saleski).
I've been told on more than on occassion that I tend to cry at Bruce shows. So there goes my macho image I guess...
-Glen
Ah, who needs macho anyway?
"Racing In the Street" will bring tears to my eyes almost every time I hear it.
i don't need to be tolk, i know that i cry. oh my gawd, when they finished our show with "Dirty Water"....
even better than that, it was "Dirty Water" with Peter Wolf on hand.
even better than THAT, it was "Dirty Water"->"Buffalo Gals"
i swear, i could hear lisa singing from 100 feet away.
I think the coolest thing I ever saw Bruce sing was "On Top Of Old Smokey" in Portland on the River tour. He changed the lyrics to "I know that shes smoking, I hope she dont blow" referring to Mt. St. Helens.
-Glen
Since he missed Alabama on this tour, I'm all kinds of buying the shit out of this. Really nice set list, too, other than "Mrs. McGrath. I can't wait to have this.
He missed Seattle too Josh. And I was too broke at the time to travel for it (though I have done that in the past). I've heard so much about these shows, I can't wait to get my hands on this!
-Glen
Thanks for posting this. I'm so excited about this, given that both the album and the tour were huge sellouts. Bruce is at the top of his game and during his last tour there was NEVER an empty seat.
Wow, that's all kinds of cool. I'm not much for music DVDs but I'll be all over this. I've heard only good things about that tour.
Yeah, but does he do that "Cop Killer" song on here?
Cop killer song? Where the hell did THAT come from? If Tom were any kind of Springsteen fan at all, he'd know that the name of the song is "41 Shots", which has absolutely nothing to do with killing cops. Everyone knows that! It's about people doing a heads up, and taking more responsibility for their actions when faced with a deadly situation - on BOTH sides of the gun. Jeez..... Can we stop trying to crucify Mr. Springsteen for trying to show us all how to take notes, and live a better, and safer life through being more cautious in our actions toward each other?
HB, you're a bit behind on some of the inside jokes. Tom is fully aware. It was sarcasm directed at certain sentiments being expressed in unpleasant ways across the site(s).
144 Digga and counting plus 44 votes at Netscape. I think Daryl D may have even voted (maybe theres hope for him yet).
Anyway, thanks everybody!
Tramps Like Us...

So maybe they've forgiven me for "Bare Trees" and Christine McVie after all. Ya think?
-Glen
So, Bruce Springsteen still has fans? Or is this his record company hiring people to hype him up? The guy is a socialist douchebag and nothing else. Please take your head out of his asses cause he could care less about you. He does want to make money, but judging my ticket sales from his shows (in the midwest, at least), he may have to become an opening act for A Ha soon.
@liz. You must by 13 years old.
(or am i too 'a bit behind on some of the inside jokes'?)
I think that the place you are looking for is actually Called My Space. Happy Hunting.
-Glen
and i think you're wrong.

woo-woo!!! dang, those shows were great!
of course, i'm a little miffed that they didn't pick the boston show (it was probably ruined by all of that singing and shouting by lisa mckay ;-))
